VISITING PROFESSORSHIP

The Cluster has established and funded a new visiting professorship programme aimed at attracting prominent international scientists in the field of IntCDC for a period of 1 to 3 months.

The visiting professorship programme covers IntCDC-related topics to ensure immediate operability.

Female researchers are specifically encouraged to apply.

For further information or in case of questions, please contact the Cluster’s Collaboration’s Manager.

INDUSTRY COLLABORATIONS

INDUSTRY PARTNERS

IntCDC, industry collaborations are a powerful tool for exchanging tacit knowledge and experience between academia and industry.

With a stronger interdisciplinary and intensified industry exchange, we want to advance cluster integrative approaches comprehensively to address the most important building typologies and related challenges. The cooperation supports the checking of the research results for their applicability and transferring them to the industry.

The Cluster’s Industry Consortium (IC) reflects all relevant facets of the building industry and will ensure direct knowledge exchange, transfer and rapid impact of research results into the application.

The tasks of the IC are actively support the cluster with lectures and webinars as well as the joint writing of papers and publications.

INDUSTRY CONSORTIUM

Our Industry Consortium (IC) does not only serve for knowledge exchange and transfer but is also relevant for early career support as a bilateral recruitment platform for all.

Scientific and social relationships are instigated and built up by the IC, so that successful PhDs and postdocs have the opportunity to pursue an industry career.

The IC supports the early career advancement of the clusters of doctoral students and postdocs in the form of mentoring and advice and through mutual research stays.

For further information or in case of questions, please contact the Cluster’s Collaboration’s Manager.

INDUSTRY SECONDMENTS

The Cluster’s Research Programme facilitates our industrial collaboration and exchange. We offer industry secondments with partners of the Cluster's Industry Consortium (IC) as part of the Cluster’s knowledge transfer measures. We enabling IntCDC’s researchers to spend up to three months in the field with IC companies as part of the support measures for early career researchers.

Similarly, the Cluster will host practitioners from the IC companies for academic internships in its labs at the university.

We provides the funding and scholarships for:

KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER

Knowledge transfer to the scientific community effects through the usual academic mechanisms (e.g. publications, presentations at conferences). IntCDC also promotes international exchange of scientific knowledge for research, integration and utilisation.

To transfer knowledge between research and industry, findings of basic research in IntCDC have to be taken a step further towards practical application. Knowledge transfer from our research into the scientific and commercial sphere is an important part to encourage economic and social innovation with mutual benefit, which plays a particularly important role for IntCDC.

The active bi-directional exchange ensures that those research findings that are immediately relevant for practice and industry are promoted and can be transferred, while long-term fundamental research is pursued.

PLATTFORM DIGITIZE WOOD

The platform organizes a two-sided knowledge transfer between the local timber construction industry and the cluster´s research. It is attached to the IntCDC and funded by the Ministry of Rural Areas Baden-Württemberg.

SPIN-OFF AND START-UP
SUPPORTING MEASURE

The Cluster promotes an active start-up culture in order to spin-off and transfer findings into the industry.

The EXC – Start-Up Series jointly organized by the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Science (ENI), the Cluster of Excellence IntCDC and the Cluster of Excellence SimTech, comprises the following components:

EXC – Start-up Talks

The EXC – Start-up Talks will feature discussions on current start-up topics with active and successful founders from the respective areas of the clusters. Topics will include such as success factors, collaborations and the path from research to market. The discussion, which are organized and moderated by Marcel Werle and Philipp Häßler, involve other experts from the University of Stuttgart’s start-up network.

EXC – Start-up Lectures

The EXC – Start-up Lectures are designed to introduce researchers to topics that are necessary for starting their own business. These include legal aspects, IP, financing and market analysis. Experts from within the University and from Stuttgart’s ecosystem will give the lectures.

EXC – Start-up Workshops

The EXC – Start-up Workshops provide an interactive opportunity for researchers to develop a commercial perspective on their own research and potentially advance initial business ideas based on their research findings. The workshops will apply state-of-the-art start-up methodologies such as lean start-up.

The aim is to promote the founding of start-ups from research and its results.
