The upcoming "Visiting IntCDC Institutes Networking Program" (ViNe) event offers a behind-the-scene look at the Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptional Design (ILEK).

Prof. Lucio Blandini (PI, Head of the ILEK) together with Daria Kovaleva (PhD candidate) will give a 30-minute lecture on current research activities at the ILEK, including the design and production of lightweight concrete structures with minimal ecological footprint, design, and simulation of adaptive structures for new and existing building stock, as well as adaptive envelopes, dynamically responding to environmental conditions to improve indoor comfort and reduce energy consumption in buildings.

A guided tour of the ILEK—the earliest permanent roofed cable-net structure in Germany—as well as the experimental platform with the world’s first adaptive high-rise tower D1244 will follow the lecture.
