IntCDC Key Skills Workshop – Science Communication

Science is not finished until it is communicated. To communicate their research well, scientists need to step out of their comfort zone and learn a different style of communication. This workshop will cover the basics of successful outreach with a strong practical focus. Topics include strategic communication, target group-oriented key messages and statements for different channels and formats of science communication. All theoretical input will be applied to your own topics in concrete exercises. There are also case studies, expert feedback and lots of background knowledge.

Content includes:

  • Strategic communication for your project and your career
  • Preparing audience-focused key messages and statements about your own research
  • Exploring different channels and formats of science communication (with a focus on social media)
  • Preparing for interviews
  • Dealing with challenging situations, both online and offline
  • Workbook and documentation on all topics addressed and more

Workshop lecturer: Robert Kötter (Twentyone Skills)
