The Urbach Tower has been awarded the Materialpreis 2021 in the category of Material Application.
The jury states about the project:
"This pure and material-driven experiment by ICD / ITKE - University of Stuttgart is primarily future-oriented. But it is also exciting in the truest sense of the word, because it exhausts the material forces in wood to the utmost. As a matter of course, the landmark presents itself as a borderline experience of digital production and natural material properties in the landscape - and still takes a step back: But how can it be made of wood?"
