The upcoming event of the Visiting IntCDC Institutes Networking Programme (ViNe) offers a behind-the-scenes look at the Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptional Design (ILEK).

Prof. Lucio Blandini (PI, Head of the ILEK) together with Daria Kovaleva (Doctoral Researcher) will give a 30-minute lecture on current research activities at the ILEK, including the design and production of lightweight concrete structures with minimal ecological footprint, the design and simulation of adaptive structures for new and existing buildings, and adaptive envelopes that dynamically respond to environmental conditions to improve indoor comfort and reduce energy consumption in buildings.

The lecture will be followed by a guided tour of the ILEK – the earliest permanent roofed cable-net structure in Germany – and the experimental platform with the world's first adaptive high-rise tower, D1244.

ViNe, the IntCDC Networking Programme, aims to promote mutual acquaintance, interdisciplinary exchange and cross-disciplinary understanding between researchers from around eighteen institutes at the University of Stuttgart and one MPI, encompassing architecture, structural engineering, building physics, engineering geodesy, manufacturing and systems engineering, computer science and robotics, and human and social sciences.

The event will take place in person.
