We are happy to introduce the new format “IntCDC Brown Bag Sessions” (BBS), a series of informal lunch meetings for everyone in the Cluster. Participants can bring their food (or “brown bag”) and get in touch with the different IntCDC Management-Team members to talk about development opportunities, diversity, exchange, data management, communication and much more!

This first BBS together with Division 1 – Research and Transfer – of the University of Stuttgart was met with great interest among the early career researchers of the cluster and was apprecieated very much.

Saskia Zocher and Dr. Natascha Verhagen gave an overview of national funding programs, mainly DFG but also of Federal Ministries and IntCDC-relevant foundations. They also addressed EU funding schemes and further international funding opportunities, which were aimed mainly at postdocs, but were also important for advanced PhD students in terms of raising awareness and timely preparation for applying for funding after completion of the dissertation as one focus was on ways to fund one's own position.

Ms. Zocher and Ms. Verhagen gave valuable tips, on how to write an application and explained the support possibilities offered by the Division 1. These range from general information on possible funding programs to support in proposal writing (proofreading, help with budget calculation), contract drafting and negotiation up to the implementation and dissemination.

Anyone interested in applying to a funding program is invited to approach Ms. Zocher and Ms. Verhagen with their respective questions.

Our objective is to offer an instance for exchange without interfering with your already very busy research agenda.
