New at IntCDC – Junior Research Group Leader Dr. Serena Gambarelli

The Cluster of Excellence IntCDC warmly welcomes our second Junior Research Group Leader Dr. Serena Gambarelli. 

Dr. Serena Gambarelli, who joined IntCDC in July 2021, received her PhD. in Civil Engineering from the Sapienza University of Rome in 2016. From May 2016 to February 2019, Dr. Gambarelli worked as postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of construction materials (IWB) of University of Stuttgart. Since March 2019, she is employed at the Materials Testing Institute (MPA), Department of Mineral Building Materials, Subdivision of Material Behavior and Modeling. In the framework of her research activities, she is mainly involved in the field of computational mechanics of building materials and structures.

Since July 2021 Dr. Gambarelli is a Junior Research Group Leader at IntCDC and within the Cluster, her main research topic is the long-term performance (durability) of timber structures. The final aim is to support the integrative design through a clear phenomenological understanding of the main degradation processes of wood.
