SUMMARY:Visiting IntCDC Institutes (ViNe): Institute of Engineering Geodesy (IIGS)
DESCRIPTION: \nVisiting IntCDC Institutes Networking Programme (ViNe)\n\nThe Visiting IntCDC Networking Programme (ViNe) aims to promote mutual acquaintance, interdisciplinary exchange and cross-disciplinary understanding between researchers in the field of architecture, engineering and construction. It is aimed at early-career researchers from the Cluster of Excellence in order to raise awareness of the differences between disciplines, with their specific research questions, ways of thinking and technical terminologies, to provide insights into working methods and to promote networking between researchers from different academic backgrounds.\nOn 25 September 2023, we had the opportunity to visit the Institute of Engineering Geodesy (IIGS). \n\nFirst, Prof. Volker Schwieger (PI and member of EC-Commission) gave a talk on “Measuring and Processing in different scales and with different accuracy levels”, where he introduced his institute and its research foci, and exemplary talked about static and kinematic, point-wise and areal measurements with laser scanner, laser tracker, robotic total stations etc.\nThe lecture was followed by a guided tour of the institute and laboratories.\nDivided into two groups, the visitors learned and practised\n\nstatic and kinematic industrial metrology,\nkinematic measurements and control with total station and\ndifferent laser scanners for areal data acquisition.\n\n\nMany thanks to Volker Schwieger and his team, namely Gabriel Kerekes, Lyudmila Gorokhova, Sahar Abolhasani and Ronja Miehling. Their introduction and practical demonstration of the equipment and the opportunity to discuss and explore the possibilities, as well as the snacks provided, made this event a valuable experience with deep insights, networking opportunities and points of reference for the participants' own work.\nFurther Information on the networking program ViNe on confluence.\n
