SUMMARY:Software Carpentry Workshop
DESCRIPTION: \nFrom 10 to 13 October 2023, IntCDC, FoKUS, TIK and SimTech will host the next Software Carpentry workshop (SCW). The workshop targets doctoral researchers and students with little or no experience in programming.\nMore Information and Registration\nThe workshop is held in person, free of charge and in English. The venue of the workshop is Room 32.138, University of Stuttgart, Campus Vaihingen, Universitätsstraße 32, 70569 Stuttgart. The number of participants is limited to 20 persons. Coffee, drinks and some pastries will be available during the break. The deadline for registration is Friday, 30 September 2023. See the workshop website for more information and setup requirements.\nYou can register via ILIAS.\nAbout the Software Carpentry Workshop\nThe Carpentries is a community initiative that provides programming tools for the daily routine of scientists. The content of the workshop will be as follows:\n\nUsing the Unix shell\nVersion control using Git\nProgramming and creating diagrams with Python\n\nThe workshop will not only teach basic programming skills, but also how to automate and reproduce scientific processes as well as possible. For instance, after attending this workshop you will be able to\n\nAutomate repetitive tasks\nEstablish a workflow to keep track of your work\nReproduce tabular data for analysis and visualisation\n\n
