GLOBAL CO-LEARNING FOR INTCDC
RP 42 incorporates the perspectives of the Global South as part of the second research phase of the IntCDC research programme. The project establishes a foundation for situated and context-sensitive co-learning within IntCDC through a decolonial lens, aiming to foster just and regenerative built environments that restore socio-ecological systems. Through South-South-North dialogues and trialogues with partners from Tanzania and South Africa (including workshops and other exchange formats), it studies the socio-material dimensions of architecture, engineering, and construction processes and IntCDC methods in regional contexts, exploring their relevance for context-sensitive and Southern urbanism strategies. A real-world demonstrator project will further anchor this collaboration, linking regional development strategies with global climate goals in an exemplary project to understand how to activate local transformation processes in formal and informal building projects. Overall, the project explores locally grounded approaches to urban planning, material sourcing, and circular construction, emphasising regenerative materials and context-specific capacity building. By jointly developing scenarios that integrate local resources, knowledge, capacities, and IntCDC approaches, the project examines how equitable and sustainable transitions can be made effectively in the construction sector and how co-design methods can be used responsibly under radically different conditions.
