SPP 2187 Award for Daria Kovaleva and David Stieler for outstanding scientific achievements

March 4, 2026 / Daria Kovaleva (ICD), David Stieler (ICD)

IntCDC researchers Daria Kovaleva and David Stieler were recognised for their cross-project, integrative work during the first funding period of SPP 2187.

The prize was awarded during the closing conference of Priority Programme 2187, „Modular Construction & Reuse", which has been funded by the DFG German Research Foundation since 2020.

According to the grant jury, Daria has taken over as head of the ‘Design and Construction’ working group, where she has brought together the methods and definitions of modular construction from civil and mechanical engineering. One outcome of this work is a review article on modularisation concepts for concrete structures (https://doi.org/10.3390/designs7060143).

David led the ‘Building Construction’ benchmark, bringing together the methods and results of various sub-projects – some covering widely differing topics – within a building design, and linking them to the various construction methods at the level of the digital twin. A related review article is currently undergoing peer review.

Congratulations to our researchers!
