How can high-performance buildings be constructed using significantly less material?
In June, the Universal Timber Slab demonstrator from the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD) was assembled for the opening of the Future Cleantech Festival in Remscheid. To mark this occasion, Achim Menges and Hans Jakob Wagner (ICD) appeared on the „Entwicklungsstadt“ podcast to talk about how wood, concrete, digital planning and robotics could enable new construction methods.
Other questions discussed were: How does such an innovation come about? What role do digital planning processes, robotics, and examples from nature play? And how realistic is it that such approaches will transform the construction of buildings and neighborhoods in the future?
