Numerous IntCDC researchers at IASS 2026

September 14, 2026 / IntCDC

14 - 18 September, 2026 / Turin, Italy

From 14 to 18 September, the IASS-IWSS 2026 took place in Turin. Fifteen IntCDC members presented their latest research at the international conference through talks and publications. Principal investigator Lucio Blandini (ILEK) participated in the plenary roundtable moderated by Giulia Boller, which celebrated the centenary of Heinz Isler, Sergio Musmeci and Frei Otto.

As part of the Pavilion Exhibition, the ITECH Research Pavilion 2024 showcased the structural potential of bio-based hybrid systems in architecture. The system combines timber and flax fibre, each maximised for its structural strength: timber in compression, flax fibre in tension, balancing slow- and fast-growth materials.

The joint conference brought together specialists from around the world to explore advances in shell and spatial structures as well as pioneering design approaches at the intersection of structural engineering and architecture. Key topics included sustainable structures that combine efficiency and aesthetics with environmental responsibility, as well as the adaptive reuse of existing and historic buildings.
