The project Wangen Tower has been recognized at the Holzbaupreis Baden-Württemberg. The award ceremony took place in Friedrichshafen and celebrated outstanding timber projects from across Baden-Württemberg.
Presented by the Ministerium für Ernährung, Ländlichen Raum und Verbraucherschutz (MLR) Baden-Württemberg as part of the Holzbau-Offensive, the Holzbaupreis honors exemplary projects that demonstrate innovation, architectural quality, and the future potential of timber construction.
Statement of the jury: "The tower turns an inherent property of wood into a constructive principle: flat-fabricated cross-laminated timber elements are brought into shape through controlled drying and transformed into load-bearing, curved components. In this way, the material’s characteristic shrinkage gives rise to an innovative and highly elegant construction. Height, form, and function merge into an impressive viewing experience in which the qualities of wood can be directly experienced both inside and out."
