Visit by the Social Cohesion Working Group of the Bündnis 90/DIE GRÜNEN parliamentary group from Bavaria to the Cluster of Excellence IntCDC in Stuttgart.

At the beginning of October, the Cluster of Excellence IntCDC welcomed a delegation from the Bavarian state parliamentary group Bündnis 90/DIE GRÜNEN, consisting of Verena Osgyan, Kerstin Celina, Stefan Christoph, Bernhard Sprachmüller, and Lea Markert, for a visit. The focus of the exchange was on the “Stuttgarter Weg” in particular the research conditions for the groundbreaking topics of our time and their social relevance.

After an introduction to the IntCDC's research projects by Hans Jakob Wagner, a doctoral researcher and research group leader at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD), the delegation was given a tour of the IntCDC Large-Scale Construction Robotics Laboratory. Here, the delegation was able to discuss with research group leader Felix Amtsberg (ICD) specific prototypes related to research into integrative and computational design and construction methods, the development of novel processes for cyber-physical prefabrication and on-site large-scale robotic construction, and the associated emergence of intelligent and sustainable building systems.

The exchange provided the Bavarian Green Party with valuable insights into the potential of digital technologies to rethink planning and construction in an integrative and interdisciplinary approach, thereby enabling groundbreaking innovations in construction. The visit made it clear that intensive interdisciplinary exchange between research institutions and political decision-makers is essential in order to effectively address the complex challenges of our time.
