The Special Interest Group Data Infrastructure provides a forum for interested working groups wishing to establish or further develop an RDM infrastructure at working group or institute level. We invite you to a monthly SIGDIUS seminar, to which we invite internal and external experts for presentations and discussions. SIGDIUS members will have the opportunity to exchange their experiences with concrete RDM infrastructures.

National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) – The idea behind, basic services of NFDI and contributions of the University of Stuttgart
“Data as a common good for excellent research, organised by science in Germany” is the vision of the NFDI, the National Research Data Infrastructure. In a process funded by the federal and state governments over several years, the NFDI is being set up by a network of 26 consortia covering different scientific disciplines and developing methods, standards and services to make research data FAIR – i.e. findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable – within their discipline. NFDI-wide base services can significantly improve the efficiency and seamless and smooth use of research data management services within and outside the NFDI. Base4NFDI is therefore also being promoted as a joint initiative of all NFDI consortia. Institutions from all important areas of scientific infrastructure provision and from all major research organisations in Germany are actively involved. The target group of the NFDI-wide basic services is the entire NFDI community.
In the first part of the presentation, Lars Bernard, spokesperson for Base4NFDI, will outline the ideas behind NFDI and provide an insight into Base4NFDI's objectives, processes and achievements.
In the second part, Simone Rehm, CIO of the University of Stuttgart, will give an overview of the six consortia in which the University of Stuttgart is involved and present the contribution of SimTech.
