A joint exchange in an informal atmosphere on topics from the world of timber construction – the next L'ignite Holzbau-Stammtisch Stuttgart will take place on 09.10.2025!
This time we are guests of HPP Architekten and White Arkitekter. Volker Biermann and Frederik C Larsson report on the concept for the new medical clinic building at Tübingen University Hospital, that pursues a holistic approach to sustainability. The focus is on creating a healing environment for patients and a functional, efficient working environment for clinic staff.
The construction is resource-efficient and CO₂-reduced. Wood as the central material in the ward floors and other renewable raw materials for the façade and interior fittings contribute significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The construction is designed for dismantling and material separation, allowing components to be reused or recycled.
In their presentation, Tobias Schwinn and Lasath Siriwardena from the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD), will highlight the design and development of the large-span timber roof of the IntCDC Building, which houses a multistory office and construction robotics laboratory for the Cluster of Excellence IntCDC (Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture). The segmented timber shell integrates research in computational design, structural engineering, robotic fabrication, and timber construction, exemplifying IntCDC's co-design methodology.
Afterwards, as always, there will be plenty of time to chat and network over drinks and finger food.

The regulars' table is organised by digitize wood and the Computational Wood Architecture Research Group of the University of Stuttgart and takes place quarterly in cooperation with changing network partners. It offers a platform for professional exchange and is aimed at all planners, craftswomen, researchers and entrepreneurs who are active in the field of timber construction.
