The Cluster of Excellence IntCDC at the University of Stuttgart will open the doors of the IntCDC Large-Scale Construction Robotics Laboratory (LCRL) in Waiblingen on 30 September 2025.
During the Open Day, you will gain a look behind the scences of the LCRL – our central hub for interdisciplinary research exchange. Here, scientists conduct research across various research platforms with novel robotic systems and materials to develop future-proof methods for both prefabrication and on-site construction. Each platform bundles the expertise of multiple research projects, enabling the integration of individual research results into the computational and robot-assisted construction of building demonstrators.
The following research platforms will be presented:
-
Modular, flexible and mobile robotic platforms for off-site and on-site fabrication:
▸ Construction of novel timber building systems
▸ Coreless wound fibre composite components -
Large-scale robotic instrumentation platform for on-site cyber-physical construction:
▸ On-site assembly of timber systems employing a tower crane and modified spider cranes
▸ Fabrication of fuctionally graded concrete -
Automated on-site fabrication, fitting, and finishing and assembly using mobile manipulators:
▸ AI-supported assembly and finishing of building components in existing structures▸ Distributed collaborative multi-robot systems for construction
