In the IntCDC Constructive Conversations, the Cluster of Excellence “Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture” hosts renowned national and international scientists to speak on current topics and challenges in the field of IntCDC.
We are very happy to present Corinna Harmening from the Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation at the TU Vienna. She is our first IntCDC Incoming Fellow and is currently based in Stuttgart at the Institute of Engineering Geodesy (IIGS).
In her lecture Laserscanner-based deformation analysis she will talk about about deformation analysis and the challenges of terrestrial laser scanning. In recent years, terrestrial laser scanning has become a standard measuring technique for engineering geodetic applications. Due to its contactless and fast data acquisition and the resulting quasi-continuous description of the object under investigation, laser scanning has a number of advantages over classical point-based measuring techniques. However, it also presents a number of challenges, in particular regarding the scope of the subsequent data analysis. Deformation analysis, as one of the main engineering geodetic tasks, is particularly affected by these challenges. Among other things, it is impossible to acquire identical data points in different measuring epochs by means of a laser scanner. Hence, there is a ned to move from the classical point-based analysis strategies to area-based strategies, some of which are introduced in this presentation.
